The Longcase Clock evolved during the second half of the 17th century. Throughout the next 200 years the longcase clock changed dramatically from the very first small ebony veneered examples to the large Victorian clocks of the 19th century.
The movements were principally of 8 Day Duration and 30 Hour but there was also Month Duration and on very rare occasions, Year Duration. Cabinet work was mostly produced using solid oak, solid and veneered mahogany & veneered walnut
