A high quality provincial longcase clock with rare date feature.
Featuring an 8 day movement and striking the hours on a bell. The arched silvered brass dial displaying Roman numerals, Arabic minutes and seconds. The lower centre of the dial engraved with the makers name Benjamin Reed, Plymouth. The dial also with an unusual and rare date dial to the top of the arch.
The well proportioned and substantially made case is made from solid and veneered mahogany. The plain base stands on a double plinth and the long trunk door is framed with reeded canted corners. The hood features Corinthian and Doric capitals to the separate reeded pillars and a broken arch top. The rear plain pillars displaying solid mahogany capitals.
