NEW ARRIVAL

A fine London longcase clock by this well known and famous Clockmaker.

The movement is of 8 day duration, featuring 5 plate pillars and strikes the hour on a single bell. The bell can also be silenced as required. The silvered brass dial displays seconds, date Roman and Arabic numerals. The time is displayed via blued steel hands.

The elegant case design was used by several Clockmakers at this period but most notably by John Holmes. There are also similarities to the case as used by Mudge and Dutton.

The case features some excellently chosen flame mahogany veneers, canted corners to the hood and a broken arch top. The base has a raised panel and a double plinth.

William Allam appears to have had some influence from several famous Clockmakers during the 18th century such as Mudge, Dutton and also Vulliamy.

Allam was Free of the Clockmakers Company in 1743. Working alone at the beginning of his career he then joined in partnership with Clements in 1763 and worked until the late 18th century.

A highly desirable longcase clock.

NOTE: Having only just arrived this clock will require some sympathetic restoration to the case and the the movement will be serviced and guaranteed for 3 years.
