An Irish wheel barometer with rare landscape scene engraved to the main dial.

The 8" diameter silvered brass dial calibrated from 28" to 31" with weather indications and rare landscape scene featuring a church, 2 cottages, a barn and a windmill. The barometer reading is indicated by a blued steel hand and can be recorded with a brass set hand controlled with the set key below the main dial.  The dial is enclosed within a glazed convex brass bezel. The silvered brass thermometer scale is calibrated from 0º to 120º Fahrenheit via a Mercury thermometer and has the option of removing it for measuring the temperature elsewhere. Also with hygrometer to the top and a rectangular bubble level to the base of the barometer engraved with the makers name, G. Giaccomelli of Belfast. The mahogany veneered case is edged with ebony and boxwood inlay.  The swan neck top has bone paterea and a brass finial.

Note: Engraved landscape scenes to the centre of wheel barometer dials are exceedingly rare. We have only seen a handful of them in over 40 years of business. G. Giaccomelli is listed as working in Belfast between 1800-1830.
