An excellent quality mahogany bracket clock with extensive brass inlay.

The 8 day duration double fusee movement with anchor escapement, striking and repeating the hours on a bell and with a strike/silent facility above the number XII. The round white dial with Roman chapters and finely made matching blued steel hands. The movement also with engraved backplate border and a transportation feature for the engraved pendulum bob.

The well figured mahogany veneered case with extensive brass inlay to the front elevation, brass fish scale sound frets to the sides, elaborate brass carrying handles and brass bordered blind frets around the dial. The chamfer top surmounted by a brass pineapple finial and standing on four brass ball feet.

Note: Morris Tobias is known to have worked in Wapping, London between 1794-1840. He was a Chronometer Maker and also patented a clock to show time by ships bell.
