A fine quality West Country mahogany longcase clock.

The 8 day duration movement striking the hours on a bell. The brass dial with separate silvered brass chapter ring, brass spandrels and a well engraved centre of Landscape Scenery and also featuring seconds, date aperture and the makers name. The arch showing matching spandrels and an engraved silvered brass Tempus Fugit boss. The mahogany case with a long trunk door with shaped top and elaborate brass escutcheon. The base with a shaped mahogany panel and bracket feet. The hood with brass capped reeded angle pillars and a glazed hood door. The flat top hood with dentil moulding and typical Bristol fretwork.

Note: The Wasbrough Family were Clockmakers, Brassfounders and Ironmasters. All working during the latter half of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. We believe this clock was by William Wasbrough jnr, who is recorded as working between 1764 - 1784.
