A high quality small Rosewood antique bracket clock with an unusual quarter striking ting tang movement.

The 8 day duration double fusee movement of substantial build and quality with anchor escapement, signed to the backplate by the maker and striking the hours on a bell. The quarters struck on two bells in a ting tang fashion. The silvered brass square dial signed by the maker with Roman Chapters and matching blued steel hands. The dial also with Strike/Silent facility above XII and framed within a silvered brass sight ring. The finely made rosewood veneered case of small proportions with bun feet to the base, gadrooning detail, brass fish scale frets to the side and a Pagoda Top with a turned rosewood finial to the centre.

Note: Ebenezer Simmons was working in London from C.1815 to C.1869. This is a rare example of a small Quarter Striking Bracket Clock.
