An excellent Scottish longcase clock with superb flame veneered cabinet work.

The 8 day duration movement striking the hours on a bell. The painted arch dial showing seconds and date, flowers and foliage to the corners and further decoration to the arch with swags and a golden urn. Also with matching blued steel hands. The typical Edinburgh mahogany case of exceptional colour with high quality flame veneers to both trunk door and the base. The base standing on small bracket feet and inlaid with boxwood. The very nicely shaped trunk door flanked by reeded quarter pillars capped with wooden capitals and also inlaid with boxwood. The hood with reeded and brass capped angle pillars. The swan neck top with a central brass spire finial and unusual Galleon embossed brass paterae.

Note: James Breakenrige is recorded as working until about 1825 in Edinburgh.

Historical Fact: The Bank of Scotland Head Office was built between 1802-1806.
