A very impressive and rare wheel clock/barometer incorporating a movement by John George Holmden of London.

The 12" diameter silvered brass scale calibrated from 28" to 31" and engraved weather indications enclosed within a substantial concave bezel fitted with a convex glass. The thermometer scale calibrated from 0º to 110º Fahrenheit. Also with hygrometer to the top and level with makers name and address. The centre with a rare 8 day fusee clock movement with enamel dial, blued steel hands, signed to the backplate Holmden, London and all enclosed within a high quality glazed bezel. The movement with hinged access to allow regulation to the unusually shaped pendulum bob. The fine mahogany case with tulipwood cross banding and with further ebony and boxwood inlay. The swan neck top with ivory paterae and central finial.

A very fine quality and rare example.

Note: John George Holmden was the foremost movement maker for Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy. A well known and famous maker who was clockmaker to the Royal Family. L. Stampa is listed as being well known for wheel barometers which incorporated clock movements.
