An exceptionally small and very rare 18th century mantel clock.

The unusual 30 hour duration fusee movement with verge escapement striking the hours on a bell. The silvered brass round dial with Roman chapters, Arabic minutes and blued steel hands. The backplate with well engraved flowers and foliage and makers name. The very small ebonised case with broken arch top surmounted by a brass handle. Brass inlay to the front engraved with flowers and foliage and brass sound frets to the sides. Standing on four brass ogee feet.

Note: George Monro of Edinburgh was a very accomplished maker and is listed as a maker of great repute. He was born in 1724 and died in 1804.
